2010
What’s better than starting the year with a video of a neat card trick with a cover from an all times great blues standard?
…probably having that on the 1st rather than on the 11th, I guess. I hope you’ll like this video anyway! I confess it’s probably not as good as the one from last year but I am quite proud of my home made “zero of diamond”. Thinking about it, I’ve never seen such a card in any gaffed deck before, I should sell the idea to ellusionist. ^^
Kidding aside, 2009 was in very important year for me with, among other things, the end of my Ph-D and my defense. I am really glad with the way things turned out even if some rough stretches were truly stressful. That probably being the reason why I felt a bit drained by the end of the year… Beside the academic side of things, I also took part in the shooting of a movie with the noorderwind, I had (by default ^^) a key role in one of our shows, I traveled to new places, met new people… So it definitely was great year! I wish everyone to have as much excitement in 2010 as I had in 2009!
That being said, I remember that I wrote down last year’s resolution on this blog and I was surprised to see how short I fell on some points. I’ll detail that in my next post this week and I’ll make new resolutions that, this time, I’ll try to follow! Later I will post a series of messages I started to write during the COP15 in Copenhagen. I wrote a few things about what I thought of this conference and what I think, as a young scientist about climate change, how to tackle these issues and how to communicate about science. If you find some interest in that, science might become a recurrent topic on this blog. I’ll see how it goes and I know that adding too many spices in one dish doesn’t always make it better but this might be a new direction for my blog since I am not exactly producing new music every week.
Anyway, let 2010 rock for us all!

I am fan of close up magic and street magic too. I didn’t practice much last year but, the year before, I always had a deck of cards in a pocket and I did tricks to strangers in the train for example. I also recorded some videos of trick I did at conventions like Japan Expo but the sounds is so poor I really can’t put them online… That’s a shame, maybe I’ll look for a better camera or for tiny microphones to solve that problem.
