PhD beard
I stole the following picture from the brilliant PHD Comics:
I did so because for two reasons. First: it’s hillarious and I advise everyone to have a look at this website. Secondly it’s also quite accurate. Lots of details and situations are really bringing back memories sometimes (not always luckily ^^).
I chose this particular picture because I have been growing a “PhD beard” since March but I am glad to say that I am in the upward side a the curve again. The end is very near, the stress level lowers slowly and I started to go out again last week-end. I also start to get nice accomplishments like this one: http://www.int-res.com/abstracts/meps/v385/
It’s only my first published paper as a first author but there are a few others in the making so my moral is sky high after the hard times I went through a few weeks and months ago. Anyway, feel free to go and download the article “Benthic-pelagic coupling and the seasonal silica cycle in the Bay of Brest (France): new insights from a coupled physical-biological model”.
Marine Ecology Progress Series has an open access option that we picked so that anyone can download our paper without subscription to the journal. So, feel free! ![]()

Pretty impressive. Classy even!
I take it it wasn’t as hot as it’s been here, lately.
With all that gear on, you must have been melting if it was ^
